Team Values

Why We Need You

Seattle Veterinary Outreach is dedicated to human and animal welfare, which are firmly intertwined. We believe that improving the health of a pet can have a direct and positive impact on the life of their owner.  We can’t do this work without your support.

While our greatest need is for volunteers with veterinary skills, we also rely on people who can help make our mobile clinics run smoothly and efficiently. We’re looking for volunteers to assist with client intake, distribute pet resources, provide social service referrals, take photos, and more. Simply schedule a time to talk with our Volunteer Manager to indicate your interest, and let’s talk! There’s a role for everyone who wants to make a difference—join us today!

Service

Volunteer Requirements

Volunteers at Seattle Veterinary Outreach should have a sincere passion for serving under-resourced communities and their pets.  We value compassion, empathy, and a strong commitment to making a difference in the lives of those we help.

Outreach clinics operate throughout King and Snohomish county every Wednesday and Friday from 9 AM to 3 PM, as well as the second Saturday of each month, rain or shine. We also offer work-from-home projects and daytime volunteer opportunities at our main storage location. Please see below for more details on each volunteer position!

Onboarding Process

Volunteer Onboarding Process

Thank you for your interest in becoming a volunteer with Seattle Veterinary Outreach (SVO)! We’re excited to welcome new volunteers and guide you through our onboarding process. Here’s what you can expect as you start your journey with us:

To begin, please schedule a 30-minute interest call with Jenny Turner, our Community Volunteer Manager. Use this Calendly link to choose a convenient time for the call. During this conversation, we’ll discuss your interest in volunteering with SVO, share details about our mission, and explore the various volunteer opportunities available.

After you complete the interest call, please fill out our volunteer application form. This helps us understand your interests and skills, ensuring we match you with opportunities that best fit your preferences.

Once you submit the volunteer application, you’re welcome to visit our clinics. This is a great opportunity to observe our operations and shadow current volunteers. It will give you a firsthand look at how we work and help you feel more comfortable when you start your role.

Based on the volunteer roles that interest you, we’ll refer you to our training sessions. These trainings are conducted once a month and are essential for getting you up to speed with your chosen role. We ask that you complete the training within 30 days of starting as a volunteer to ensure you’re fully prepared for your responsibilities.

If you have any questions about the onboarding process, please feel free to contact Zarah directly at [email protected].

We’re thrilled to have you join our team and look forward to working with you to make a positive impact. Thank you for your enthusiasm and commitment to supporting SVO.
