Veterinary Outreach

Clinic Services

We hold outreach clinics most Wednesdays, Fridays, and the second Saturday of each month. These clinics are busy, often filling up by 9 AM as people line up early for a spot.  Although we would like to help everyone, veterinary services are for individuals who are unhoused or low-income, receiving state subsidies like SNAP, EBT, WIC, SSDI, TANF, or living in subsidized housing.  In addition to veterinary care, we offer pet supplies like flea medication, food, collars, leashes, and toys—available even if you’re not seeing the veterinarian that day.

To provide comprehensive support, we partner with human services organizations that offer additional resources to clients during the clinic. While waiting to see the veterinary team, clients can also meet with our staff social worker to explore further resources and assistance.

Please see below for important information on how to prepare for your visit, and be sure to read through our Frequently Asked Questions.

Preparing For Your Visit

At Seattle Veterinary Outreach, we strive to provide quality care to as many pets as possible. Please take note of the following details regarding our service:

First Come, First-Serve Basis

Our service operates on a first come, first-serve basis. Due to the high demand, we highly recommend arriving early to secure a place in line. We appreciate your patience and understanding.

Limited Spaces

Please be aware that spaces are limited, and unfortunately, we cannot guarantee that everyone will be seen. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause. Rest assured, our team will do their best to accommodate as many pets as possible.

Two Pets per Family Limit

To ensure fair access and provide equal opportunities to all, we have implemented a limit of two pets per family. We kindly request your cooperation in complying with this policy.

Code of Conduct

A code of conduct applies to all community members visiting our clinic. This is a safe space and we kindly request that everyone respects our staff, other visitors, and maintains a safe and calm environment for the pets in our care. Any aggression, cursing, or yelling at staff or community members will result in your pet not being seen that day.

Stay Informed

Prior to attending any clinic, we strongly advise checking our website or designated page for any updates. Staying informed will help you stay updated on any changes or additional information that may arise.
Thank you for your support and cooperation as we continue to serve our community’s beloved pets. Together, we can make a positive impact on their health and well-being.

Frequently Asked Questions

We don’t perform spay and neuter surgeries at our clinics. However, there are several fantastic organizations that offer these services. You can find more information and resources on our website.

We operate on a first-come, first-served basis and do not take appointments. We prioritize sick pets and strive to ensure that everyone receives the care they need.

We are a small team and may not always have immediate access to email, and most information can be found on this website. Due to our limited resources, we can only respond to emails from social service providers, veterinary hospitals, and animal shelters related to record requests or lost pets.  The best way to reach us is via email at [email protected]. Please allow up to 48 hours for a response. Thank you for your understanding!

Our team arrives at 9am and we are often full for the day at this point. To ensure your pet is seen, clients typically start arriving around 7:00 AM to 8:00 AM. This helps secure a spot since we operate on a first-come, first-served basis, though it does not guarantee availability .

We allow a maximum of 2 pets per household per clinic visit. While you can have up to three pets in our system, you may only bring two at a time.

We only perform nail trims if they are deemed medically necessary by our veterinarians. Due to the time and resources required, we are unable to accommodate routine nail trims. We have free nail trim kits available with the necessary tools and instructions.

We accept cash, debit, and credit cards.

We provide a range of pet resources, including pet food, collars, leashes, harnesses, beds, and more. For pet parents, we offer information on community resources such as food, shelter, healthcare, and more. We can also provide referrals to local social service providers.

Expect a wait time of a few hours. We start seeing patients at 10:00 AM and continue until 2:00 PM. Depending on your position in line, you might wait 3-4 hours.

Each clinic location has a designated area for lines. When you arrive, look for our blue sign that says, “Line starts here.” It is important to form a line when you arrive, we do not accept lists made by community members as this often causes confusion. Thank you for your understanding!

Our ambulance arrives at 9:00am to set up and we distribute client forms. We begin seeing clients once the veterinarians arrive around 10:00am and continue until 2:00pm. Community members are welcome to visit our resource distribution area between 10:00am and 2:00pm to pick up any pet food and supplies they may need.

Your pet will be seen by a licensed veterinarian in Washington.

If you have previous medical records for your pet, please bring them. Additionally, you may want to bring a chair, snacks, and beverages for the day.

Email us at [email protected] to request your pet’s records. Please allow up to 48 hours (about 2 business days) for a response. If you are at a clinic, you can ask the veterinarian for a photo of the records at the end of your visit.

Refills are available only for pets seen at our clinic within the past year. Many prescriptions can be filled at a local pharmacy with a written prescription, allowing you to compare prices using tools like GoodRx, which finds the lowest cost options at nearby pharmacies.

If your pet needs a written prescription and was seen within the last 12 months, email [email protected]. For medications available only through veterinary suppliers, such as Chewy, we recommend submitting your refill requests directly through them.

Most medication refills must be purchased online through Chewy.com or 1-800-PetMeds. To request a refill or if you have questions, email us at [email protected] and allow 48 hours for a response. Please submit refill requests at least one week in advance – we cannot refill prescriptions during an outreach clinic.

Quality of life scale

Currently, we do not have a veterinarian specific for exotic pets. However, we will do our absolute best to help you with your exotic pets if the situation occurs.

Donations can be dropped off at any of our clinic locations. We always need antibiotics, flea medications, pain meds, ear and skin treatments, unopened dog and cat food, beds, carriers, treats, collars, leashes, coats, and poop bags. Items we cannot accept are opened food, controlled medications, and medications expired for over a year.
